PrecisionOps Support

No ticket queue, no phone tree, no offshore script reader. You reach the person who wrote the software.

Email

signal@proteanhollow.com

Best for anything that needs a screenshot, a log, or a data file. Usually answered within one business day.

Phone

(208) 304-2440

Best when you are standing in front of the problem. Mountain Time. If it goes to voicemail, leave one and it gets returned.

Down in the field?

Keep working

PrecisionOps is offline-first. If sync is broken, your data is still safe on the device. Finish the job, then get in touch.

Installing

Three ways to run PrecisionOps. Downloads live on the product page.

Android warns me the app is from an unknown source

Expected, and safe to continue. The Android build is distributed as a direct APK rather than through the Play Store, so Android asks you to confirm.

  1. Tap the downloaded APK.
  2. When Android offers, allow installs from your browser or file manager.
  3. Return to the APK and install.

Code-signing certificates that remove this prompt get added as the install base grows.

Windows SmartScreen blocked the installer

Same cause as the Android warning. SmartScreen flags installers it has not seen often enough yet, not installers it knows to be harmful.

Click More info, then Run anyway. If your workplace blocks this outright, use the web app instead, which needs no install.

Which version should I use?
  • Android for techs in the field. This is the one that works in a crawlspace with no signal.
  • Windows for the office: dispatch board, invoicing, reporting on a real screen.
  • Web app when you are on someone else's computer, or you just want to look something up.

They share the same account and the same data. Use all three if you want.

Sync and offline

The part people ask about most.

I had no signal on a job. Did I lose the work?

No. PrecisionOps writes to the device first and syncs afterward. Readings, photos, notes, and time entries recorded in a dead zone are stored locally and upload on their own once you have a connection again.

You do not need to press anything. If you want to confirm it went up, check the job on a different device once you are back in coverage.

My phone and the office computer disagree

Almost always a device that has not finished syncing yet. Open the app on the device that has the newer information, give it a moment on a real connection, then re-check the other one.

If they still disagree after both devices have synced, send an email with the job number and roughly when each edit was made. Do not delete and re-enter the record, since that makes the history harder to recover.

Sync seems stuck
  1. Confirm the device actually has working internet, not just a connected Wi-Fi icon.
  2. Close the app fully and reopen it.
  3. Give large photo uploads a few minutes on a decent connection.

Do not uninstall the app to fix sync. Anything not yet uploaded lives on the device. Uninstalling discards it. Get in touch first.

Account and access

I cannot sign in

Work through these in order:

  1. Check the email address for typos, including a trailing space if it was pasted.
  2. Use the password reset link on the sign-in screen.
  3. If reset email does not arrive, check spam, then confirm the address is the one your account was created under.

Still stuck, email signal@proteanhollow.com from the address on the account if you can.

How do I add or remove a tech?

Team members are managed from the office side. Invite one by email and they set their own password on first sign-in.

When someone leaves, deactivate them rather than deleting them. Deactivating cuts off access immediately while keeping their name attached to the jobs and time entries they actually worked, which you need for payroll and for job history.

Can I get my data out?

Yes, and you should not have to ask permission. Your customer records, job history, and financial data are yours. Export is built into the app.

See section 6.2 of the Terms of Service for the ownership language in writing.

Bringing your data over

I am switching from ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, or Jobber

Export your customer list from the old system as CSV and import it. Most of the work is in mapping columns once, and the import will show you what it matched before anything is written.

If the export is messy, send it over and it can be cleaned up on this end before import. That is included, not billed.

What about equipment and job history?

Customers and equipment import cleanly. Historical job records vary a lot by source system, so send a sample export and you will get a straight answer about what will survive the trip before you commit to switching.

Diagnostics and built-in tools

How accurate are the superheat and subcooling calculations?

The math is correct. The readings are only as good as the instruments you put in.

The calculators and diagnostics are reference and decision support only. They do not replace calibrated instruments, manufacturer specifications, or your own judgment. This is spelled out in section 9.2 of the Terms of Service.

Voice logging is not picking me up

Confirm the app has microphone permission in your device settings. Voice logging works offline, so a dead zone is not the cause.

Mechanical rooms defeat most microphones. If the equipment is loud, step out before dictating, or type it.

Reporting a problem

A useful bug report gets a fast fix. Include what you can.

Tell me: what you were doing, what you expected, what happened instead, which device and version, and the job or customer number if it involves specific data. A screenshot of the actual screen beats a description of it every time.

Send it to signal@proteanhollow.com. If it is stopping you from finishing a job right now, call (208) 304-2440 instead of emailing.
